Christmas Cards

Are Christmas Cards a Thing of the Past?

This is the first year I am not sending out Christmas cards. It’s not that I didn’t want to, but time got away and it was not a top priority.

As I was sitting contemplating this, I came to the realization that Christmas cards are probably a thing of the past.

In the old days, when snail mail was the only form of communication, Christmas cards were a way for people to catch up at least once a year. Now that we are in constant contact through email and social media sending a card seems unnecessary.

I don’t mind that Christmas cards are a thing of the past. I have been embracing a more minimal lifestyle and cards seem a bit wasteful. The cost, the paper, the time, to end up in the recycle bin seems a bit much.

Next year, I may find an alternative to wrapping paper that gets thrown out…

Merry Christmas!
